Optimum growth via IGF-1 (Insulin-like growth factor 1) is ensured by intestinal microbiota, even in undernutrition. This has been demonstrated by F.Leulier's team and colleagues and published in Science.

Using slight variations in the amount of rate-limiting enzymes important in Retinoic Acid (RA) pathway V. Laudet and colleagues demonstrate that RA availability influences tooth number in Cyprinids. They publish their results in Proceedings Royal Society B.
