F. Ruggiero: Director of IGFL
We are delighted to announce the appointment as Director of Dr Florence RUGGIERO (DR CNRS) as of January 1st 2016.
Florence succeeds Professor Vincent LAUDET, the IGFL's director from May 2008 to August 2015, and the IGFL's inaugural director Jacques SAMARUT from 2007 to 2008.
As of 1st of September 2015, Vincent heads the Observatoire Océanologique de Banyuls/Mer. He has been appointed as a Professor at the Université Pierre et Marie Curie (see http://www.obs-banyuls.fr/fr/la_bibliotheque/actualites/vincent_laudet_directeur_de_l_observatoire_oceanologique.html). Vincent spearheaded the emergence of the IGFL on the scientific scene: notably securing the funding required to ensure the equipment of the new institute and overseeing its expansion with new research teams.
We wish Vincent all the very best in his new functions by the sea and thank him yet again for everything he has done for our institute.
Dr Ruggiero heads a world-renowned research team with expertise in extra cellular matrix biology and notably collagens. Further to her selection during the IGFL's 2011 call for group leaders, she was invited to establish her team in the new institue. Florence is co-author of 86 publications and 3 patents, is the elected Chair of the upcoming 2017 Collagen Gordon Research Conference. Prior to integrating the IGFL's executive team, Florence was deputy-director of the SFR Biosciences-Gerland (2006-2010).
Dr Frederic FLAMANT (DR INRA) has been nominated as the IGFL's Deputy Director from September 1st 2015. Frederic heads a team focussing on Neurodevelopment (see link) which is one of the few remaining "founding" IGFL teams.
The new mandate period will span 5 years begining on the 1st of January 2016. All the best to the new executive duo heading the IGFL!
