IGFL participates in the Science festival (Fête de la science)
During the science festival, students, teacher-researchers and technical and administrative staff of the IGFL are mobilized to welcome schoolchildren (from primary to high school) and the general public around workshops, laboratory visits and discussions with the actors of the research.
During their visit, visitors have the opportunity to discover different species used by researchers to understand biological processes. They can observe model species that are widely studied around the world, such as drosophila, zebrafish or mice, and others that are more exceptional, such as semi-aquatic bugs (water spiders) or a Hawaiian crustacean at different stages of their development. They can also be introduced to state-of-the-art DNA sequencing methods. Through these different workshops and discussions about their research, the IGFL researchers tell visitors how they can imagine regenerating organs, healing with bacteria or walking on water.
This year's event takes place on Thursday, October 13 and Friday, October 14 for schools and on Saturday, October 15 for the general public.
