Back to Saturday January 20 at IGFL open day: From the Ocean to the Laboratory - meeting marine model organisms

As part of the TREC (Traversing European Coastline) expedition, the TARA boat made a stopover in Lyon. In this context, the teams of Bénédicte Charrier and Michalis Averof joined forces with Tara, and the IGFL opened its doors on January 20, 2024 to enable the general public to come and discover the marine model organisms studied in our laboratories.

To mark the occasion, a visit of the Tara boat was organized for all those involved in the organization of this event. Eric Karsenti, scientific director of the Tara Oceans expedition, was very much appreciated, despite the cold weather.

The IGFL Open Day was a great success. Young and old were present to meet brown seaweed, sea anemones, sea urchins and other marine organisms, and to talk with IGFL students, engineers and researchers. It was a rich, enjoyable and happy day for all.
