What is it?

The mouse remains the emblematic species of the research laboratories. Easy to breed, prolific, it is an irreplaceable model for studying the physiology and development of mammals, including humans.

Why using it in research?

Mice belong to the mammal species for which genetic engineering methods are the most developed. Genomic editing and transgenesis have produced countless models of human pathology. These models are used to better understand these diseases, and to test new treatments.

To do what ?

At the IGFL, we use the mouse to:

  • Study the influence of thyroid hormone on brain development, and metabolism of adult mice.
  • Study the influence of the intestinal microbiota on postnatal development.
  • Analyze how the circadian clock regulates all physiological functions throughout the day.
